Shrub & small plant removal
Remove unwanted planting and prepare for what comes next.
Shrub removal and garden bed clearing.
Old shrubs can outgrow a spot or make a garden bed hard to manage. GARDR can assess removal of selected smaller garden plants and shrubs and discuss how you want the area left afterwards.
Shrub removal, bush removal and plant removal cover the same kind of job: taking out smaller shrubs, dead or overgrown plants and the manageable roots beneath them. Small hedge removal can be quoted too, leaving the garden bed clear for something new.
Small shrub removal, done carefully.
Before removing anything, we check the plant, access, roots, nearby structures and whether permissions may apply.
What we can include
Removal of assessed smaller shrubs/plants, appropriate manageable root material, basic bed tidy and optional replanting quote.
What is outside this service
Protected native vegetation without permission, large tree stumps, mechanical stump grinding, major excavation.
Permits and protected vegetation.
Removing native vegetation can need a planning permit in Victoria, and some properties have overlays that protect particular trees or vegetation. Mitchell Shire Council (Wallan and Beveridge) or Hume City Council (Kalkallo) can tell you whether a permit applies. GARDR checks this with you before removing anything that might be covered.
Roots and what's underground.
Shrub roots can wrap around irrigation, drainage and service pipes. Checking plans through Before You Dig Australia and finding out where any irrigation runs avoids accidental damage. Large stumps that need grinding are outside GARDR's current services.
Weedy shrubs.
Some popular garden shrubs, such as cotoneaster and pyracantha, are considered environmental weeds in parts of Victoria because birds spread their berries into bushland. Replacing them with a non-invasive plant is a good way to finish the job. Removing them before the berries ripen, usually in late summer and autumn, also stops the next round of seedlings.
