Raised garden beds
Make better use of the yard with a bed built for the space.
Raised garden bed installation.
Raised beds can make herb growing, vegetables and ornamental planting easier to organise. GARDR can build smaller, non-structural raised beds with a layout, materials and finish suited to your garden.
Raised garden beds, raised vegetable beds and vegetable garden beds all mean a contained bed with good soil for growing food or flowers. A raised garden bed installation can include assembling timber or modular beds, filling them with soil and, if you like, planting them out as a complete veggie garden setup.

We will discuss dimensions, site level, access, materials, soil fill and whether you want planting included before providing a project quote.
What we can include
Simple timber or approved modular raised-bed installation, ground preparation, suitable liner if appropriate, soil fill and optional planting.
What is outside this service
Retaining walls, structural landscape works, unverified plumbing/electrical connections, major excavation.
Choosing the spot.
Most vegetables and herbs need at least six hours of direct sun a day, so a spot open to the north usually works best. Keep the bed close to a tap and a path you'll actually use. A bed you can reach from both sides is comfortable at about 1.2 m wide; against a fence, 60 to 70 cm is easier to reach across.
Before anything goes in the ground.
Before You Dig Australia (byda.com.au) provides free information on underground services, and it's worth checking before pegs or posts go in. In newer estates, check for easements on your title and any estate design guidelines too.
Materials and fill.
Untreated hardwood, lined treated pine and modular steel kits are common choices, with different lifespans and costs. Beds take more soil than most people expect: a 2.4 by 1.2 m bed filled 40 cm deep needs more than a cubic metre. A good garden mix, topped up with compost each season, keeps it productive.
