Lawn mowing & edging

Residential lawn mowing that leaves the whole yard looking tidier.

Lawn mowing, edging and whipper snipping.

A freshly cut lawn looks best when the edges are done properly and the paths are left clean. GARDR mows residential lawns in Wallan, Beveridge and Kalkallo, from compact yards to larger blocks, with whipper-snipping around obstacles and a blow-down to finish.

Whether you search for lawn mowing, grass cutting or lawn cutting, it's the same job: a lawn mowing service for residential yards with a proper cut, clean edges and the paths blown down. If you just need someone to mow the lawn while you're busy, a one-off grass cutting service is fine too.

One-off or regular lawn mowing.

We can help with one-off visits or a regular mowing schedule. The right frequency depends on the time of year, grass type and how quickly the lawn is growing.

What we can include

Cutting accessible lawn areas, from small yards to larger blocks and acreage; whipper-snipping and edging as quoted; tidy finish; optional clipping collection only if confirmed.

Mowing through the seasons.

Most lawns around Wallan, Beveridge and Kalkallo are warm-season grasses such as couch, kikuyu and buffalo, or cool-season blends such as tall fescue. Warm-season lawns grow hardest from late spring to early autumn, then slow right down and often brown off after the first frosts. Cool-season grasses keep growing through the cooler months but can struggle in a hot, dry summer. That's why the right mowing frequency changes through the year: often weekly or fortnightly in spring, and much less in the middle of winter.

Cutting height matters.

Taking off no more than about a third of the leaf at a time keeps a lawn healthier. In summer, leaving the grass a little longer shades the soil and helps it hold moisture, which makes a real difference on the heavy clay soils common across Melbourne's outer north. Very long grass is best brought down over more than one cut rather than scalped in one go.

Clippings and green waste.

Clippings can be left on the lawn as a fine mulch, put in your green-waste bin, or taken away if that's included in the quote. For what can go in the kerbside bin, check Mitchell Shire Council (Wallan and Beveridge) or Hume City Council (Kalkallo).
